1. What is SoftCop?
This is a computer security program fraud, which is spread through Trojan.Fakesmoke. Its main objective is to intimidate the consumer and convince him to buy rogue program, using different deceptive techniques.
While surfing unsafe websites user is directed to fake online scanner page, which is the beginning of infection. It will allegedly check computer for viruses and Trojans. Even if the computer so far has been clean, fake scanner will show virus and Trojan existence, offering SoftCop as threat removal tool. User is a couple clicks away from the application being installed. Together with the program, fake Windows Security Center will be installed, alerting user of the computer security problems and offering SoftCop as a solution for fake PC deficiency.
SoftCop will be run every time the operating system starts. After assumed computer check, a report will be generated, containing virus names, which are not even dangerous, but used only to intimidate user that the system is insecure and convince him that the SoftCop will remove existing viruses and protect your computer against future threats. Unfortunately, this is just another trick to lure the inexperienced computer user into a trap and force him to pay for useless software.
