1. What is Alpha Antivirus?

It is fake computer security product, pretending to be anti-virus program. Alpha Antivirus belongs to rogue program category and is also know as a scareware. Obvious similarities found with Personal Antivirus false product, comparing program appearance and behaviour.

The infection occurs through fake scanner webpage, which is imitating My Computer window. Shared Documents and My Documents folders, as well as Local Disks C: and D: in fake My Computer window are reported to contain trojans in them. Below lies alert "Your computer is infected" with several virus names, which state is defined as "waiting removal". Any taken action like clicking anywhere on fake website or trying to close internet explorer window will lead towards rogue program download and installation. The only advisable action that should be taken in a situation like this is ending iexplore.exe process with Task Manager.

After computer has been infected, spontaneous operating system restarts may occur. Fictitious computer scan will be initiated by Alpha Antivirus, generating exaggerated report in the end. Threat names in the report created by programs like Alpha Antivirus, are usually assumed, not present or harmless Windows system files.

3. How to remove Alpha Antivirus:

  1. Internet connection might be disabled or Internet browser might be blocked by Alpha Antivirus, so it won't be possible to download any files to infected computer. In this case please download all files required for Alpha Antivirus removal to another computer and then transfer them on the infected one using CD/DVD or USB flash drive.
  2. To remove Alpha Antivirus download Spyware Doctor and install the program (for the installation guide click here). Before installation, make sure all other programs and windows are closed.
  3. After the installation, computer scan should be started automatically. If so, please move to the next step. If not, click "Status" on the left side menu and press "Scan Now" button to run computer scanner as shown in the picture below:

  4. After the scan has been completed and scan results have been generated, press "Fix Checked" button to remove Alpha Antivirus.

  5. Restart the computer to complete Alpha Antivirus removal procedure.
